My name is Lara Rocha, I was born on October 20, 2005, and I am from Portugal.
My relationship with the arts began early, during primary education, when I attended the integrated music program at Academia de Música de Costa Cabral. Alongside music theory and vocal training, I studied oboe, completing the 5th grade.
I later attended Escola Artística Soares dos Reis for my secondary education (2021–2023). It was during this period that I became more deeply involved in the arts, particularly in photography. In my second year, I focused my studies on audiovisual communication, eventually specialising in photography in my final year. During this time, I developed a broad understanding of photographic processes, including various analog techniques such as film development, printing, and experimental methods like pinhole photography.
Although this experience was highly formative, I developed a growing interest in cinema, which led me to apply to the Cinema undergraduate program at the University of Beira Interior in 2023.
Throughout the course, I have been able to further consolidate my practice within the field of image-making. In addition to theoretical components, the program includes three major film projects, in all of which I worked as Director of Photography. This allowed me to establish a balance between cinematic practice and the visual experience I had developed in previous years.
For the future, I prefer to keep an open perspective, focusing on gaining further experience and exploring new contexts and approaches.
